A Little Exercise

 

I spent about an hour this morning weeding the plot next to my patio. Not strenuous exercise, but I did work up a sweat since I was in full sun.

Yesterday I took the Rolloy for a walk again. I went further this time. I enjoyed the beautiful peonies in bloom over by the Community Center. I sat down in the shade of a fir tree as I continued down the block. A rabbit crossed over right behind me, about 3 feet away. When I tried to get out my phone so I could take a photo, the rabbit hopped around the corner of a building. 

We are in for a stretch of really nice weather through next week. I hope to spend some time sitting in my rocker on the front porch enjoying the geraniums and the hanging pot of fuchsia.  No exercise in that, but it will make me happy. 

More Beauty

 

The pink peony I had from my backdoor neighbor started dropping petals earlier this week. Since her flowers are almost past the peak, I felt a little melancholy about throwing it out. I even put the petals in a bowl for an additional day of having the lovely aroma. 

This morning my cleaning lady arrived with 3 darker pink/fuchsia blooms clutched in her hand. A gift for me. How sweet. 

I need some perking up. My degenerative spinal problems continue to progress. I saw this afternoon the ortho doctor that did my cervical spine surgery. I thought about returning to the doctor that did my lumbar laminectomy about a year ago. He comes across as a gruff bear, and I am not in the mood to be a patient of a gruff bear. My X-rays today showed not only the scoliosis (which I have known about for 2 years), but lateral listhesis, i.e., at one level of the lower spine I now have a vertebra that has slid/twisted sideways so it does not align with the ones adjacent. This misalignment is painful. I will be scheduled for a CT scan, then meet with this ortho doc to discuss options. I am very limited in my standing time and walking distance.

Today's Walk

Around 9:30 this morning I headed for the pond. Fresh air on the breeze felt good. We are to be around 90 degrees today, and the rest of the week is to be hot and humid. The humidity wasn't too bad yet this morning.

A resident of Grace Village gave money to buy flags for the planters, etc. around the apartment building and the flag circle. A nice touch for Memorial Day.

Several Robin Hood (condo) residents fly flags most days. We just put ours up on patriotic holidays.

Many people in the neighborhood through which I walked have flower baskets and pots now.

I added a geranium to my porch.

My neighbors' peonies are blooming.

My daffodil stems/leaves were falling over. I cut some short to get them off the speedwell plants. There is a tinge of pink on some of the Asiatic lily buds. Maybe in 10 days we will see them bloom. I bought them the first week of July last year already in bloom; perhaps with the right weather conditions they will bloom in June.

Only one quince bloom left. 

It is a beautiful day; I am glad I was able to be outside for awhile.

Peonies

It is peony time in Indiana. My neighbor has lovely flowers this time of year. I am so happy to view her blooms from my house. I did walk closer to take these photos, but I can enjoy the peonies from my patio and through my bedroom windows.

 

God has surrounded us with so much beauty.
