Color Bursts

I am looking forward to sitting on my front porch facing west to see the fireworks bursting in the night sky. The town of Winona Lake shoots them over the lake, and though I am a few miles from the waterfront, I can see the higher displays. Happy Birthday, USA.

I can see out my window a profusion of moss rose blooms. They love the sunshine and warmer weather. Actually, we have a nice cool day in the mid-70s for our July 4th. Unlike early Tuesday morning when the winds roared and the rain fell in torrents. It was about 1 a.m. when the weather radio sounded the alert for a tornado warning. There were some small tornados north and south of us in our county. It was the fierce wind that led to the death of a 14-year-old boy down the road from Grace Village. A large tree fell on top of his mobile home and crushed the life out of him. So sad.

When I woke my husband up (he can sleep through most anything), he went to the bathroom, came back to bed and was sound asleep as I laid there watching the lightning and listening to the wind, debating whether to go sit in the interior hall.  I got up once to peer thru the back windows to see if any trees were down and realized my Weber grill had been toppled over by the force of the wind. I could hear a siren in the distance. The next day I learned of the death of the boy. Life is precarious.
