I’ve been wanting to drive to the Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester to see their tulips, but we had several rainy days. I was super busy Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with my husband’s Golden Grads activities. Grace College and Seminary invites those who graduated 50 years ago to return to campus for a reunion and then march at the head of the graduation ceremony for the new graduates. They were all decked out in gold.
There were 19 returnees, five from the seminary. We did know a few others who were college graduates as we attended church with them back in the 1977-1986 years.
It was sunny when we left our house after lunch today, but at North Manchester it was mostly cloudy. I have been going to see these tulips for 3 or 4 years now. They are always different each year; they must plant new bulbs each year.
It is always so peaceful on this campus, except for the bell tower clock chimes. We had visited and considered moving here, but though the grounds are lovely, the housing stock is much older than Grace Village, about 50 years old for some of the brick “cottages”.
The parking lot was fairly full as people came to honor their mothers and grandmothers. We usually eat at a restaurant after church, but today we ate at home. As we drove by several restaurants, we saw lines of people waiting outside. I will call my mother in about an hour (3 hour time difference) and wish her a happy mother’s day.
